The College Information Technology Services (CITS) department would like to take this opportunity to briefly describe the technology available to all faculty, staff and students of ECC. The information contained in the following pages has been designed to help you take full advantage of the technology available at ECC. CITS helpdesk representatives are currently available at extension 1835 between 8:00am and 4:00pm to aid all faculty and staff with any technical problem they are experiencing and to answer questions. For faculty, staff and students, myECC Sharepoint is your portal to information! Visit https://myECC.ecc.edu for great online resources and a wealth of information, forms, and documents, such as ECC Today, the holiday schedule, the CITS Acceptable Use Policy and Student Resources handbook, training documents and videos. You can access sites for Human Resources, CITS, Print Center (Duplicating), Purchasing and much more! The installation of a gigabit backbone allows for use of bandwidth intensive applications among campuses, such as video conferencing. ECC features fully integrated phone, voicemail, and email systems. IP Telephony brings digital phone access to the desktop and with unified messaging both email and voicemail is received through your Microsoft Outlook Inbox. Messages may also be accessed from off campus at http://webmail.ecc.edu. An electronic phone directory is available for your use on ECC’s website at www.ecc.edu. Click the Quick Links drop down box and scroll to select Faculty/Staff Directory. Our upgraded Internet connection offers opportunities for bandwidth intensive applications in Distance Learning (DL) on ANGEL Learning, such as the use of real-time audio and video. Wireless infrastructure at the College, including in the libraries and student areas, allows faculty, staff and students the ability to easily access the Internet with laptops available in the libraries on all three campuses. The incorporation of technology in our smart classrooms enables faculty to offer more dynamic presentations with the use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Internet applications, and other forms of multimedia. In addition, ECC has over eighty computer labs allow for technical education which is essential in today’s business environment. Virtual Private Network (VPN) access is available to full time faculty and staff, allowing access to college resources (email and remote desktop, etc.) from anywhere off campus.
